Pat Lyne was a successful breeder of Connemara ponies for forty years. As an international Judge of the Breed, she travelled extensively and visited eight of the sixteen countries where the Connemara is now bred. This, together with her close association with their native homeland, Connemara, provides her with a global view of the progress of the Breed throughout the world.

Her first book, Shrouded in Mist published in 1984, has become the handbook and companion of every Connemara enthusiast. The sequel 'Out of the Mist', published in 1990, is an overview of the breed around the world.

SHROUDED IN MIST was first published in 1984. Ten years later a reprint was necessary. A further print run was undertaken in 2000. Today I find we are nearly out of stock again. I feel it should remain in print, at least in my lifetime, and a modest reprint with laminated soft cover is now in the hands of the printers, Orphans Press.

A similar reprint of OUT IN THE MIST remains available. I find that my stock of REFLECTIONS THROUGH THE MIST is greater than can be justified. Accordingly it is now on offer at SALE price of £10 or €15.

These three books, and the two that follow, are considered essential reading for those interested in the Connemara breed. BE SURE they are on the shelves of your library. You will find Pat's bookstore provides a friendly and prompt postal service.

AS I SEE IT (2006) continues to be in demand. ARCTIC MOON (2008) has not proved so popular in spite of being 'the best ever' in the opinion of many who have read it. It charts the every day ups and downs, success and failure, of one breeder, and should qualify as a breeders handbook, as well as a good read.

THE STATION HOUSE MUSEUM in Clifden celebrates ten years in 2009. We hope to mark the occasion in several small ways. I encourage visitors to come along and share the occasion with us. A new poster and a booklet, bringing together the life and works of the museum, will be available in August. I hope to meet many of you there.

SHROUDED IN MIST (1984) remains the only definitive history of the breed from the earliest times. It is a well-researched record with an interesting selection of old photographs and anecdotes. 250 pages £22 / €32

AS I SEE IT (2006) Back and forth, past and present, through the Mist. This provides an up-to-date and personal overview of the Connemara Pony breed. The Feely thesis and the 2005 Clifden show results provide the template for this study. 100 pages - £15 / €25.

Pat, who is a member of the Secular Order of Carmel, has also written two books on the life of the Carmelite saint, St. Teresia Benedicta of the Cross, Edith Stein. 	Edith Stein Discovered, published in 2000, is a personal memoir of the saint, and is introduced 'as an engaging portrait'.
	The sequel Discovering Edith Stein in a daisy wreath of Friends, published in 2004, describes the author's deepening knowledge, and love of the saint. she meets others who have studied Edith's legacy intently, and who share her interest.
